Why we exist.

Kayvea was founded on a simple observation: the hardest part of any complex system isn't the technology — it's the gap between what was built and how people actually work. We exist to close that gap.

We are a technically-grounded, women-led consulting firm built for public health agencies, research organizations, and mission-driven software platforms. We don't parachute in with frameworks and leave. We embed, we get our hands dirty, and we stay until things actually work.

Our team brings together expertise in data informatics, systems implementation, change management, and documentation — with a bias toward action and a commitment to leaving every engagement better than we found it.

Kayvea LLC

Kate Burdekin is a trained informaticist with deep experience leading data and systems initiatives inside complex NIH research programs at RTI International.

She built Kayvea because she kept seeing the same problem — technically sound systems that failed to land with the people who had to use them — and knew there was a better way to solve it.

Based in Durham, North Carolina.

What we hold steady.

The firm, not the founder.

We're built to outlast any one person. Our brand language and engagement structure reflect that.

Technically grounded.

We don't outsource the hard thinking. Every engagement is led by someone who understands the systems.

Thoughtful AI.

AI accelerates the work — it doesn't replace the thinking. Every engagement uses AI under careful judgment, with documented governance.

Honest scope.

Advisory means advisory. We don't take ownership of execution we can't fully resource.

Built to work with public-sector and federal partners.

WOSB Certified

Woman-Owned Small Business certification, current and active.

SAM.gov registered

NAICS 541519 (primary), 541611 (secondary).

AI governance in place

Formal AI Governance and Acceptable Use policies referenced in client and employment agreements.
